Medical Training and Study

If you are student training in the medical professions, there is a lot to learn before you take your finals and state's exam. The given curriculum at the school you attend will show you what you need to know, but it is up to you to retain this information. The computer and the Internet have become a valuable resource and learning tool for medical student's. There are many websites that will allow you to create self made practice tests, flash cards, and many other fun games. Some games can have the information you want to remember incorporated into them. Or, you can find preset games or presentations online, with resources of medical knowledge that pertains to what you are studying. This can be especially helpful when trying to remember areas of medicine a medical student may be having trouble with.

There are thousands of medical terms, medical abbreviations, body parts and disease processes to learn, remember, and know. Sometimes playing games that pertain to a student's medical studies can help them better remember and understand foreign sounding words and new medical information because it is fun and a challenge to learn. It is also very helpful to identify how a student learns the best in their own individual way to get the full benefit of their studies.

Different Ways of Learning

Everyone learns and is able to remember information in different ways. These different ways of learning are sometimes are called learning styles. Some people can benifit and retain information from all different types of approches to learning and memorization. Many people learn the best through only a certain way of learning. Some of the basic ways people learn have been categorized as:

Visual Learning:

Which means that some people tend to remember information better when they see the facts visually. This may be through illustrations, videos, hand-outs, flash cards, and seeing a person explain a subject.

Audio Learning:

This is when a person tends to learn better when they hear the information they are trying to retain. This means listening to verbal lectures and having disscussions on the subject being learned has the highest benifit for this type of learner.

Tactile Learning:

This is known as hands-on learning and is most benificial to people who learn best through doing "hands-on" work and learning at the same time. This means exploring the physical surroundings that have to do with the subject being learned and becoming actively engaged with objects having to do with the subject while learning about it.

Online Medical Games and Tutorials

When a student discovers the best way that they can learn, they then can plan their own ways to learn the required material to graduate, and to succeed. All kinds of learning aids and games for medical student's can be found on the Internet. There are medical information sites that incorporate visual learning with diagrams of the human body, videos with audio explaining certain medical topics, and more. You can also find interview video's with doctor's explaining different medical topics. Some web-sites offer the creation of flash cards, practice quizzes and games, that allow you to enter the information you want to learn and then play them as part of your medical studies.
