The Blogging Beginnings

The “blog” started out as a personal journal for someone to create and save on the Internet. Then a persons thoughts and ideas could be published and shared with others. In turn the comments become a conversation and debate may take place, and so forth. So there is an open conversation or debate about subjects with people online. Blogs and “blogging”, which is what writing on your blog is called, have evolved and come a long way from the meager beginnings of personal digital diaries.

Blog Worlds

There are so many subjects of all categories blogged about these days a person cannot keep up with them. Blogs have become very popular with people of all ages, and in some instances read more than newspapers.

There are somewhat two blog worlds that you must be aware of before beginning to blog online. There is the blog world of personal content, with thoughts and feeling of a more personal nature and subject content, and then there are the blogs of the business and political world. Some people want to keep a blog for only certain people to view and comment on.

Others want their blog to be read by as many people as possible to gain business advertising, social business connections, and notoriety for their writing and ideas. Also, a larger audience and presence on your blog will generate more revenue if you have Google Adsense advertising or any other paid per click or impression advertising implemented on your blog.

When you find which side of the fence you are on you can decide which world is right for you.

Privacy

For new computer and Internet users the topic of privacy is a topic to be aware of. If you are just not ready for the world to see your work, or you don't understand enough yet, don't dive in right away until you can make sure your information will be kept to a privacy level that you agree with.

Perhaps you might consider keeping personal diary on your computer for practice, for awhile at least. Then, after you gain more experience interacting online, you may feel more confident writing and keeping a blog online as well.

You could certainly create a blog on your computer that is not online. The style of writing you would use in a blog can still be used in a word or notepad file document. Like a journal on your computer.

There will be no comments from others but this way you know your information will be kept private and you have the choice to share via email, and so forth. Then whomever you have shared with can comment back via email if they like, and so forth. This is good practice for a beginner blogger.

Personal Blogger

If your blog is personal and you want to keep it that way you must join some kind of Internet community or forum where only you know who is reading your blog. The blog must have some kind of security feature or filter, which most do.

When first starting out using the Internet and blogs, people are often unaware that their blog is very public and are alarmed sometimes when they receive comments, negative and positive, from people they don't know, or from people they didn't intend to see it.

For a lot of people blogging is a hobby and is a wonderful way to share thoughts and ideas. If your blog is personal though, you just might want to know with whom you are sharing with.

Business Blogger

On the other hand, it is beneficial for professional’s in their careers to write and have their work read. So for these people having a blog is almost like part of their resume.

This is the area of blogging which is so great because blogs are widely read and are getting more popular by the minute.

  • So when you have decided you want your works read by the world the most successful key elements in a blog are quality of the content and updating the blog.
  • If you want to be successful be prepared to blog daily to capture a group of people with similar interests and then you can build more clients, or traffic, to your blog.
  • The more involved you are with your blog or blogs, the more successful they will be.

It takes commitment, but over time you will see there is bound to be an audience out there involved in your niche.

No matter if your blogs are for sharing thoughts and ideas, doing business, or driving traffic.

Blog Away

When you have decided that you want to blog about, for whatever reason, it is important to decide what is right for you.

You need to know and understand the privacy rules of the blog program or web site group you are using, or blogging with so you can avoid any unwanted surprises.

It is every blogger's personal decision about what they want to write about, but also who they want to share it with.

Once these decisions are made, however, you are free to blog at your hearts desire with confidence.

Are you, or do you want to be, a Personal or Business Blogger?
